SuperStay24h Lipstick by Maybelline NY

A few months ago I decided to buy the SuperStay24h Lipstick by Maybelline because I always have to reply my lipsticks after 30 minutes and to be honest with you, most of the time I just don't bother to re-apply. Specially in my line of work I never had time or a mirror.

This seemed like a dream come true.

And. It. Is! This really does work!

You get a lip gloss/lip tint like applicator with which you apply the lipstick. It covers like a lipstick, not a lip gloss. You should try not to get the brush to wet, rather put two layers and let dry in between coats. Then after about a minute you do the second step, the lip gloss that comes on the other size of the tube.

You smack your lips together and you are all set. For Hours! After 6 hours of wear, it still sits in place perfectly even though you might have to re-apply the lip gloss a few times. Eating and drinking is no problem for this lipstick. If you don't eat anything too oily it stays in place and won't leave stains on glasses either.

Apply lipstick and gloss...

                        6 hours later....

                          The next day...

Maybelline has a colour pallet of 4 main colours. Red, pink,
purple and brown. In total there are 18 different shades to choose from.

Here are swatches of all the colours in their different shades.

What is Steampunk

Steampunk you ask? It's an adventure for all ages...
It's something different to almost everyone you ask but breaking it down, it is essentially a sub-genre of the fantasy culture. Here are some key words to describe it:

Victorian
Jules Verne & H. G Wells
Industrial revolution
Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Tea Time
Clockwork Mechanics

Old inventions are re-invented as elaborate works of art and fashion. Imagine old Victorian England and then it taking a course into a different future universe. I like to use the term "Futuristic Victorian" actually when people ask me what steampunk is to me.

In the last few years, Steampunk has evolved and has become integrated with music, fashion and design, film and even for some, a life style. People want to "steampunk" their gadgets, such as computers, phones, ovens, and even cars! It's a creative outlet that let's you explore and experience all the machines from literature from Jules Verne & H.G Wells and more.

The "Guidelines of Steampunk"

*It should be based on the Victorian era
No matter how outrages your idea's are, or how far in the future you want your project to be, it should always hae a sold Victorian base.

*It should include moving mechanics or steam powered gadgets. It must be functional

*Goggles - for some reason or other this is the most frequently seen steampunk accessories. You can't be seen with out it.

*It must be brown, tea stain or sepia in colour. Imagine old, faded Victorian photographs or old moving pictures. Seeing as this is just a rough guideline, you could how ever make it as bright as you wish, but always include some element of brown or earthy tone.

Oh my goodness, so many explanations when pictures really do say a 1000 words.

Movies featuring Steampunk

*Wild, Wild West
*Back to the Future part 3
*City of Lost Children
*League of Extraordinary Gentleman
*Treasure Planet by Disney
*Sherlock Holmes - 2009
*Hellboy

Harley Quinn Halloween Makeup Tutorial

Julia Graf made this quite famous halloween tutorial video for youtube and have been a long standng fan of hers. As some of you might know (from my Facebook) I am into fantasy and fantasy make up/clothes. I watched the video and did my own take on it.

Here is the end result of my first try out.

I added some red cheeks and a red dot to my nose. The eye liner is extremely hard to do and I messed up on the bottom, that is why I made them into triangle tears instead. I also went for black eye brows because I could not find my red liner, but it might be fun to use the red for the next time when I am in full costume.

Thanks Julia.

Tips to look more feminine.

1. Wear Clothes that Fit

Sounds easy enough! The way to look more feminine is to wear clothes that fit! Don’t get the wrong idea though; you don’t have to go super tight in order to achieve a more feminine silhouette. The key is wear clothes that aren’t so loose that your frame is lost in all the fabric while subtly accentuating your shape. If you have extra money and have some clothing that you love but they just don’t fit your body right, consider getting them tailored. It’s not often that someone buys something off the rack that happens to fit like a glove!

2. WEAR Pretty JEWELRY

aiffel-cute-necklace-paris-silver-Favim.com-281923

A simple tip to look more girly is to put on some jewelry! Think of delicate bracelets or drop or girly stud earrings to dress up casual looks. You can easily get some cute and on-trend pieces from discount stores to pair with everyday looks that can transform even the plainest outfit. Look for pieces that catch your eye or you might even consider enrolling in a monthly service like JewelMint where you create a style profile and you get personalized jewelry choices each month so picking out your jewels is that much easier!

3.WEAR BRIGHT COLOURS

Integrating bright colors into your wardrobe is another painless way to look feminine. Embrace color and try out brightly colored shoes, bottoms, tops, or bags. Even if you hate pink or red, there are still many other bright colors that are fashionable and feminine. For fall, try out jewel tones like amethyst or emerald and you might even find that you can rock red or pink ruby tones since they aren’t the classic bright red or pinks you’re opposed to!

4.PERFUME

I know this post is about ways to look more feminine but wearing a flirty fragrance can make you feel that much more womanly and confident! Think about finding a signature fragrance that makes you feel girly yet sexy every time you wear it. Once you find a signature fragrance and incorporate some feminine accents to your look, you’ll not only look like a bombshell but feel like one too!

5.THE PERFECT SHOES

I can’t forget about footwear on this list of ways to look more feminine. Think about it, you can wear ruffles, pearls and florals but if you’re pairing it all with Crocs or worn out Chucks, they sort of cancel out all your hard work! There are times when mixing girly and edgy elements work beautifully, but if you don’t get it right you can end up looking frumpy and mismatched! Look for ballerina flats, chic Oxfords, colored or embellished pumps or riding boots to complete your look.

6. STYLE YOUR HAIR

Styling your hair can be one of the more time-consuming yet simple tips to look more girly. Styling your hair doesn’t require spending a lot of money, just some time and patience to experiment. Curls and waves are the quintessential hairstyle of romantics so they’re both a great way to go. If you like a little less fuss, how about coloring your hair or using some cute, age-appropriate hair accessories to amp up straight strands?

7.LINGERIE

Part of wearing more fitted clothes and another way to look more feminine involves wearing softer and effeminate underthings. Wearing bulky sports bras or sporting major VPL are not cute and definitely not feminine. If you wear
fitted tops or sheer fabrics, make sure you’re wearing a bra that goes with the overall look. The last thing you want is to wear a bulky bra or panties that’ll steal the show from your beautiful shape!

8.THE PERFECT BAG

Just like adding pieces of jewelry is one of the simple tips to look more girly, a nice handbag can also do wonders! Just like fitted pieces of clothing are flattering, structured and slim handbags are a great accessory. If you like bigger slouchy bags make sure you balance it out with your clothing to avoid looking frumpy. Look for bags with great color, good quality fabrics and fun accents.

9. GIRLIE SPRINKLES

girlie-3

Look feminine by adding some flirtatious whimsy with girly accents like bows, flowers, lace, glitter, pearls or sequins. None of these embellishments have to over-the-top or pointedly obvious, you can add a little girlish touch in the most subtle ways! Try securing your braid or ponytail with a small ribbon, add a little shimmer to your makeup, tie a printed scarf on your purse or wear some glitter nail polish.

There are tons of simple ways to look more feminine and it doesn’t have to involve foofy skirts, wearing a tiara or ball gowns. The most important thing is that you stay true to your personal taste and wear what you’re comfortable in. Don’t force huge changes on yourself and please don’t change for someone else, do what you love in life and fashion!

10. Make up & Nails
Make up can make you feel more confident and you honestly don't need much. Mascara and a lip gloss is really all you need if you are not big on the make up during the day. It just instantly lifts your face and make you look fresher and awake. Who doesn't want that. As for nails, a simple light pink or even a clear varnish can give you just the right touch of girliness. You can paint them yourself or get them done at a salon to make you feel extra special.

16 tips on how to invite passion and inspiration back into your life

16 tips on how to invite passion and inspiration back into your life

Write a love list

Sit down with pen and paper and make a list of everything that you love. Include all the things, people and concepts you are attracted to, passionate about and interested in. Don’t limit yourself.

Take opposite action

Very often, what we most feel like doing is not what would help us the most. So if you’re having low energy – you often feel like hanging out at home, while getting out and doing something actually would be more helpful. The same thing goes for feeling uninspired – we often don’t feel like doing anything. So whatever it is you want to be doing right now – try experimenting with doing the opposite. Sometimes doing something you’ve never done before will excite and ignite you like nothing else.

Loosen up

Being uninspired and feeling detached often has a physical component, as we very often end up stationary or doing physically slow things. A good way to guide yourself to a better mental state is to do something physical, like dance, running, or hiking – or yoga. Anything that will move and stretch your body will help you thinking become more flexible too.

Do something fun and unusual

I know you’re not feeling it right now, but there’s nothing like doing something spontaneous when you’re uninspired. Try something you have never tried before, like a trapeze class, a photo safari or go to a lecture on a topic you know little about yet.
image

Pump up your creativity

Even though you might not feel particularly creative, doing something that requires you to stop thinking and start doing is usually a great way of getting inspired. If you need ideas – try fingerprinting, writing or crafting something with your hands. Pinterest is great for DIY ideas!

Talk about your dreams

Tell a friend about something you would like to do one day. Try to describe it in as much detail as possible. If you don’t have a friend you can talk to about this, try writing it all out. See if you can reconnect with a dream by thinking differently, or connect with a new dream entirely.

Smile and laugh more

Smiling and lauging – even faking it – will make you feel happier. I’m not encouraging false laughs here, but if you are feeling low and uninspired, try watching a comedy or just smiling to strangers. This totally works! You might feel goofy, but if that can make you laugh of yourself – even better!
 image

Focus on what you are feeling, not what you aren’t

As the Buddha said; “Suffering is arguing with reality”. When you are feeling flat, uninspired and tired – but feel like you should be feeling passionate and excited about something – you feel even worse than if you just focus on what you actually are feeling.

Do what interests you the most

You might feel like nothing excites you. Like you don’t have anything. But I’m sure there is something in this wide world of possibilities that is more interesting than other things. You don’t have to be wildly in love – just moderately curious. Start there.

image

Let nature hold you

Sometimes all we need to get back on track is to allow ourselves to be off track for a bit. Take a walk in nature, walk barefoot on the beach, lie down in the grass and feel the earth support you. Relax, then move on.

Pay attention to your black and white thinking

When we are not in our element, it is very easy to slip into absolute thinking. As in “I am never inspired. Or I am not interested in anything. Or I always feel stuck”. Watch out for words like never, always, nothing, everything, everybody, nobody, everywhere, anywhere etc. Try to see if there is a good middle way in there. A good way of checking your thinking is to ask yourself “is this true?” whenever you catch yourself thinking in absolute terms.

Don’t be avoidant, isolate yourself or over-think

One of the best pieces of advice someone gave me when I was searching for my purpose and passion was to don’t avoid doing things that need to be done (like paperwork and housework), don’t isolate yourself by staying in too much, and don’t think too much about what to do, why it’s not working, where to go and so on. In other words; do the work, get out there and spend more time acting than thinking!

Be limitless

So much of our stuck-ness originate from these short words; can’t, won’t and shouldn’t. So when you are searching for your spark – don’t limit yourself. Do it anyways!

Hire a life coach

Life coaches – like me – are experts at helping people find more passion, excitement and energy in their lives. Why fumble around in the dark when you can have someone guide your way?

Accept

It is what it is. And right now you are not in the zone. And that is alright! Just accepting that can make all the difference in the world. It’s like deciding to stop looking for a boyfriend and then suddenly there he is!
 image

Check yourself for depression

I feel that it is important to address this topic too. Loss of interest, flatness in emotions and loss of energy can be symptoms of depression. It’s better to be safe than sorry – the sooner you get treatment the easier it will be. So if you think this might be you, don’t hesitate to get help.

How to Grow your Hair

Carly Bybel has lovely hair

Since my 25th birthaday I have had terrible hair. It breaks and falls out constantly, and it's terribly thin and brittle. Also it just stays the same length no matter what I do. It won't grown past my shoulder blades.

I have take Vit B complex supplements and Biotine which seems to be the most recommended remedy but it made me feel terribly ill. I was dizzy and light headed all day so I quikly had to put an end to it. Stress also plays a big part in my own personal hairloss and I have tried to cut stress out of my life, it does seem to help a lot for the hair loss, but its not always easy to control stress levels in your life.

Over the last few weeks I have done some reading and research on How to Grow My HAIR!! and I am going to list all the tips and tricks right here for you. I am going to be trying them all religiously in the coming weeks and I will be reporting back on how it went. So here we go...

Tip #1

Don't wash your hair every day! Your hair needs its natural oils to repair itself and by washing it to frequantly, you stip all the natural goodness. Wash it every 3 days. I know its difficult for some of you, but please bare with me. There are many hair styles for messy/oily hair that can hide oily roots, or you can always use dry shampoo if you have too, but try to go as long as possible with out washing it. Once a week is really the best option.

Tip #2

Avoid Ponytails. The elastics are very bad for your hair and will cause breakage. Not only that, but because your hair is pulled back there is less blood flow to your scalp, which mean, less growth. Wear a hair clip, it won't damage your hair and it is not as tight as a band.

Hair clips won't damage your hair

Tip #3

Eat Good fats. Fish, like salmon have the good kind of fatty oils that you need to grow your hair. Nuts and advocado's also contain these good fats that make your hair grow faster. It's also very good for your nails. An altarnative to this is to take fish oil capsules.

Tip#4

Use coconut oil and honey as a hair mask. Coco nut oil is full of nutrients that stimulate hair growth, it also makes hair appear thicker, help hair retain proteins and can help against scalp infections.  It helps build up of dry skin on the scalp which can cause your hair follicales to get blocked. Honey is a natural hair softner and hair conditioner. It prevents hair loss and is great for dry hair. Make a mixture of this :

1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil

1 tea spoon of honey

some lemon juice (make it smell nicer - optional)

Mix it all together untill you get a pasty consistency

Rub this all over hair and pay special attention to your scalp. Leave it in for 10-20 minutes.

Wash it out really well.

Tip #5

Avoid heat! Don't use curling irons or hair straightners while trying to grow your hair. Also if possible avoid the hair dryer too because the heat can damage your hair which will cause splt end and breaking. If you do want a slight curl, braid it while its wet and it will be curly when its dry.

Tip#6

Hair Dusting. This means trimming the end, ever, ever so slightly. You can basically do it yourself so you have control over how much you take off. Here is an explination on how to do it.

Art of Dusting your Hair.

Do this to get rid of split ends. When your hair is damaged at the ends it will actually be in distress and grow faster!

Tip#7

Don't brush wet hair. Hair is at its most fragile when its wet. Use a wide tooth comb.

Tip#8

Drink water! Everyone says this but its true. You need to keep your body hydrated and it will be good for your hair and skin.

Tip#9

Use a micro-fiber towel. To avoid breaking your hair while drying it, you could switch to a micro fiber towel for your hair because the fabric is more delicate and softer for your hair. It won't absorb all the natural oils out of your hair either. These towels are expensive so you can always use a normal t-shirt to do the trick.

Tip#10

Don't bleach your hair! Try to stick to your natural hair colour while you are growing out your hair. The Bleach will damage your hair and it will not be able to grow optimally.

Tip#11

The Inversion method. People swear by this and it can add about 3-4 inches. It basically involves leaning forward and massaging your scalp for 4 minutes, no more, no less for 7 days for every 30. I would recommend that you google this, or watch some youtube video's about it if you want to use this. I do not want to discuss it here because there are a lot of health warning when it comes to this method. For some reason the internet think its life threatening to bend over forward and have blood flow to your brain. Someone probably sued someone else for suggesting it, you know how it goes so basically the disclaimers on it are longer than the actual method itself. I do recommend reading up on it and see if it can work for you.

Here are some links to the Inversion method.

The Pencil Skirt

How to wear the pencil skirt

My hips are wider than my shoulders and for my  body shape I often hear "wear a pencil skirt, it wïll suit you"...so bought one from H&M a few years ago, but to be honest with you, I have never worn it and it has been sitting in my closet ever since.
If you have trouble styling the trust pencil skirt, like me, fear not, because here are a few idea's on how to wear it and look class, sexy and sophisticated.

When it comes to rocking a pencil skirt for the office, choose a neutral color, which works for nearly any setting and can also be worn for those last-minute happy hour get-togethers. Make sure you tuck in your blouse to better define your waist and give your outfit an overall polished flair. You can also pair it with a fitted blazer or a sleek cardigan.

Have a last-minute evening affair to attend? Add instant glamour to your pencil skirt with sparkling jewelry and pumps to elongate your figure. And if you aren’t a fan of heels, simply throw a pair of matching ballet flats into your bag for quick access to comfort once you’re done for the night.

When wearing a pencil skirt for a casual weekend outing, you could pair it with a slouchy sweater or tied-up jean shirt. Add sneakers or slipper-style shoes to make this look even more casual. You can even wear a classic t-shirt tucked in and pair it with simple earrings and a necklace to go for a more effortlessly stylish look.
Sleek and sexy
This wardrope must have can be cheeky and fun, it's not just boring office wear anymore. It gives great shape and will boost your confidence and not to mention, it will make your waist looks smaller!

“There are so many positive attributes about the pencil skirt that it’s almost impossible not to have at least one hanging in your closet,” says style expert and model Jaimie Hilfiger. “A high-waisted style with a shorter hemline will add height and a style with a ruched tummy panel will also make a plus-size woman look slimmer.”

Your pencil skirt should always look smooth, especially when standing up straight. If you have bumps or rolls, the skirt is too tight. Go up a size. It will make sitting at your desk, as well as getting in and out of a vehicle a much more pleasant experience!

Don't be affraid of pops of colour
If your trouble spots are on your bottom half, sticking to a solid color pencil skirt is your best bet. You can pair it with a patterned or textured blouse or sweater on top. However, if your bottom half is slim and trim, try bold patterns to mix things up and add the illusion of curves.

Create an hourglass look with a belt that’s darker than the top and skirt. You can also try it with a peplum top. Opt for darker colors and, if you’re experimental, vertical prints if you’re bottom heavy.

Classic Black & White

How to get Strong Nails

Ever since I was about 11, my nails grew and grew and looked very much like an adults. I wore no nail polish nor did I use hand lotions, they are just naturally this way, but on the other hand, I have always had terribly weak and thin hair which I find strange seeing as you need the same care for your nail as for your hair.

It's not just genetics that determines what type of nails we end up with. Our lifestyles and diets play a big part in our overall health – Here are the four key nutrients that can make your nails stronger, longer, and healthier from the inside out.
1. Protein
Nails are made of keratin, a protein, which is why a protein-rich diet is important to maintaining nail health. If you eat meat, eggs, or other protein-rich foods regularly, there’s no need to worry.
2. Zinc
A lack of zinc in your diet could be the reason your nails are weak or not growing. It’s also a lack of zinc that can cause the white spots many of us notice on our nails. Oysters are rich in zinc, as are pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, lamb, beef, and oats.
3. Iron
Not getting enough iron? If your nails are thin, curved, or have ridges, it’s usually a telltale sign of anemia or an iron deficiency. Stock up on red meat, leafy greens like spinach and kale, and shellfish, all of which can supply your body with much-needed iron.
Here are a few tips I swear by to keep my nails super long and healthy

Nail Hardners

This is your first step, the trusty nail hardner! These really do  work even if it only provides a small coating to prevent splitting. Even the cheapest nail hardners will do the trick. There are also gel nail hardners that have a slightly better effect and will last longer. Apply this every 2-3 days as a basecoat under your usual nail polish. This really does work!

Opi Original
Diamond Strength
Nail Aid Almost Gel Harder Nails 3 Minutes

File your nails round
Just file once a week. Depending on genes, nails may break easily. Nails often break if they are uneven, and nails naturally grow unevenly. So stash files everywhere, and whenever you see unevenness, file them all to the same length, shape, and size. Make sure to file in the same direction, to prevent nail breakage. Replace your file every month, or even before the grain smooths out.

Gel nails

If all else fails...gel nails :-)

What to wear when it's hot and what NOT.

Ok so I know you girls From Arizona, the south of France and pretty much the entire southern hemisphere are sorted on this, but for some European countires, its not that easy.

When it's only hot for 3 weeks a year and pleasantly warm for a month or two, certain European women are confused about what to wear, and quite honestly I think many  of them just don't care what they look like, as long as they are cool. Just because it's 35 'C doesn't mean you should walk around with a sweaty, messy bun on your head, cut off jeans with a tank top and bra straps showing.

NO. Stop right there! Bra straps are not ok, ever. It's trashy and unnecessary.

NOOOOooo!!!!!!

The first thing you should buy is a Strapless bra, seriously. Ok So I hear you. "I have a size DD and it's just not possible" ... well many of these under garments have removale straps that you can wear criss-crossed or change the straps with see thru ones. You can adjust the straps to suit any top, there are no excuses.

Where to buy them online:

Zalando
Next - www.next.co.uk
Bloomingdales
Victoria's Secret

SHORTS
Shorts are great, but please, this new trend of your goodies hanging out is just not acceptable for ladies! Maybe when you are 21 but for anyone over that it's not good for your dignity (make sure to also check your dignity from behind!)
Seeing as I aim for the 30+ crowd here, I swear by knee length shorts. They are acceptable for going to the super market, pre-school, and generally running errands all day.

If you have legs that run from your toes to your ears, then by all means go and wear the shorter versions. Show off what you got, but always ask a trusted friend or family memeber for an honest opinion.

Sandals

I love people watching and sometimes I am sitting at a little cafe in the cobbles streets of Amsterdam and all I can do is cringe, cringe and cringe some more...Ladies, if you can not walk in heels, then please don't wear them! Wearing high heeled boots give you stability but sandals are not the same. The straps do not give you the same sense of safety so it's much harder to walk in open shoes. Before you wear those stiletto's for an afternoon lunch with the girls, practice! A thicer heel can help but remember when you are hot, your feet swell and hurt more than usual, so on super hot days its better, safer and healthier to leave those babies at home.
So paint your toe nails a bright, happy colours and wear a flat shoe or one with a small heel.

*When you go to buy summer shoes, go in the late afternoon when your feet are at their biggest.
*Straps around the ankles will make your legs look thicker.

Bathing suit

Whether you are sitting in the back yard, front porch, pool side or the beach, please make sure you have a bathing suit or bikini that FITS PROPERLY!!!  You do not want to look like this! EVER

Ok so maybe you haven't been to the pool in 4 years and you just dug out the old swimmie because its' 32'C and you are boiling...I get it, but there are other ways to go about this, without shaming yourself. The easiest way is to put on an old T-shirt over your swimsuit and swim while wearing it. This way you also cover yourself and avoid burning too much.
If you can not wear a T-shirt in the pool, then I would suggest going to get a new swim suit asap. Make sure it fits, and it's the right size. If you wear something that you have to shove your boobs in, you will not only feel uncomfortable, but you will also look it.

There are so many lovely wraps, sarongs and dresses to cover up with, that still let the sun thru enough for you to get a tan. You really do not need to be showing more than you have too. And no one wants to see up your butt crack.

Summer Dresses are a quik and easy way to get dressed when its HOT. Wearing pants restrict blood flow which will make you feel uncomfortably warm so let your man wear the pants this summer.
The good thing about summer dresses are that they can cover you up and still leave the good parts exposed. There is also no possibility of a muffin top unless you wear a belt with it, which would be unnecessarily warm. The looser the dress, the more flowy it is, the more air it can let in. So no tight dresses on hot days.
Maxi dresses are very fashionable but if truth be told, they are warm. Rather go for something knee length or shorter.
A little tip for ladies with big thighs...if your thighs rub together, sweat can really burn the skin. Rub some deoderant or powder there and your legs should feel smooth all day.

Summer Hats:

You should wear a hat if you are going to be in the sun all day. Not only will it protect your hair and scalp, but also your face from burning. A burnt scalp is one of the most horrible things to experience, especially when it starts feeling off and its like dandruff from hell...So, wear a hat!
Baseball caps are a trend again at the moment, teens and women in their 20s can get away with it, but it does not suit older ladies quite as well, but I do not rule them out! Anything with a brim big enough to cover your eyes and nose will be perfect.

Personally I prefer more femanine type hats, I always get the idea that baseball caps are manly.

*Disclaimer: I love shorts shorts (just not on me!) and I also love stiletto's, just not in the summer heat, on cobble stones! :-)
All photos by pinterest untill I can get my own. Still sick sick sickkkk!! Stupid flu.
